As one of the most successful high school baseball programs in Texas, Georgetown High School is privileged to have these coaches as mentors for our Eagle Baseball players.


Jordon Vierra, Head Coach

Coach Vierra returns for his 9th year at Georgetown High School and 5th year as Head Coach. Coach Vierra is a proud alumni of Georgetown High School. After graduating from GHS, Coach Vierra played for two years at Tyler Junior College, and finished his collegiate career at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Coach Vierra then went on to coach at Tyler Junior College, Louisiana State University Eunice, and had two separate stints in the Alaskan Baseball League and one in the New York Collegiate League. Prior to joining the Eagle Baseball coaching staff, Coach Vierra coached at Stony Point High School.

Coach Vierra is married to his beautiful bride Macy, and they are the proud parents of Jameson and Mercer.


Chad Payne, Assistant Coach

Coach Payne is in his fourth year with the Georgetown Eagle Baseball Program.  His primary role will be working with pitchers and catchers.  Coach Payne graduated from Portales HS, NM, and then received his BS in math at Eastern New Mexico University.

He has 31 years of experience coaching HS baseball, having head baseball coaching stops at Clovis NM, Houston Memorial, and Katy Seven Lakes, amassing a 300-224 career record as a head coach.  His last coaching stop was at Lubbock Monterey as the pitching program coordinator before moving to Georgetown to be closer to children and grandchildren.

He feels very blessed to be married to Amy.  He has a wonderful daughter Ashton, married to Trevor Moore with 2 grandsons, Latham and Levi.  He also has a son Cy that he is extremely proud of, married to Brittney with granddaughters Emrys and Quinnly.


David Durell, Assistant Coach

Coach Durell is in his sixth year of coaching for GHS and his 15th year of teaching and coaching. He teaches math and coaches football and baseball. On the diamond, Coach Durell is a varsity assistant and works with the outfielders and hitters.

Before coming to Georgetown, he spent six years at East View HS. Prior to East View, Coach Durell was the Head Baseball Coach at Emory Rains HS. Coach Durell graduated with a BS in Kinesiology and Masters in Education from Tarleton State University. While at Tarleton, he was a 4 year letterman on the Texan football program. Coach Durell graduated from Odessa Permian HS in 2003. He was a 2 year letterman in both the football and baseball programs.

Coach Durell is married to his beautiful wife Emily.


Frank Anzures, Assistant Coach

Coach Anzures is in his first year of teaching and coaching for Georgetown High School. His primary role will be working with infielders and hitters. He teaches English 1 and coaches football and baseball. Previously, he spent three years at Hays High School in Buda, Texas, also coaching football and baseball there.

Coach Anzures studied English and Secondary Education, and played collegiate baseball at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. He graduated in the spring of 2020. Prior, he graduated from Stony Point High School in 2016, where he was a 3 year letterman in the baseball program and played for Coach Tom Collins.


James Key, Assistant Coach

Coach Key joins Georgetown baseball after spending four years coaching baseball and football at Cedar Ridge High School.  A proud alum of Round Rock High School, Coach Key attended Tarleton State University and majored in Kinesiology and History.  Coach Key played football and baseball at Round Rock High School and continued with football while at Tarleton.

Coach Key proudly calls Georgetown home and is excited for the baseball season.  Coach Key and his wife have two beautiful children, Enzo and Lexi, and share their home with two labs.
